The unregistered version only allows to play as one of the knights, does not have the highest difficulty level, jousting tournaments, emergency taxes, and does not allow to invoke Merlin's spells. The player can also build fortifications, manage taxation and even personally take part in jousting tournaments to win gold, glory or control over new domains. Conquering more land increases income and the number of troops that may be raised for further conquests. The main screen represents the map of Britain, with each knight starting with one territory, while most other neutral and poorly defended. There are three other pretenders, and only one can emerge victorious.
